How-To: 4 steps to reach your goals
Everynight, when I am going to bed, I look at my wall and I see a peace of paper. On this peace of a paper is a list of goals that I have. These aren’t goals like I want to do this or I am going to buy something. These goals are something that if they happened, it would be a dream come true. I want to help all of you, in achieving that special goal that you have. All of my goals are geared toward wrestling, and if I just achieve one of these, I will be the happiest person on earth.
1. Write down your goals
Do what I do, write down your goals, or type them, it does not matter. Once you do this, put them in a place that you will always see them. This will help you remind yourself about your goals, and get you to work harder at them. Always think about ways to become closer to your goals. You need to think about it like this, “Will I regret it in the future?“.
I am a wrestler, and when I want to eat, I think about that phrase, I tell myself to not eat and I do something that will help me achieve my goal or take my mind off my current problem. If there is something that you have to do to become closer, but do not want to do. Do it, trust me on this. If you don’t you are way less likely to do it later. Talk to yourself, tell yourself in your mind a lot that you are going to do it.
2. Get Support
This is a critical step, this will help you a lot in reaching your goals. Tell your friends, family, anybody who you can trust, it does not matter. They will help you. They may not help you physically, but they will mentally. For example, you go to your friends house for dinner, and they will check up on you, and you give them the 411, if you are doing good you know you are doing the right thing, if not they will give you support, that is giving you the motivation to keep going foward.
Let them know when you finally reached a big accomplishment, this will give you such a priceless feeling. If I just won a big match, I will have a smile on my face for the rest of the day. In my opinion, it is the greatest feeling in the world.
3. Help others
Help other people who want to reach the same goal, or there own goal. If they want the same goal as you, then that is great. This will motivate you into keep going foward. You know that somebody out there is making the same sacrifices, working just as hard, or going throught the exact same thing you are going through.
Helping someone with different goals is just as good. You guys can work together on reaching your goal, check up on eacher, and keep pushing eachother. To reach your goals, you need about 50% mental and 50% support. The more someone pushes you, the harder you are going to try. Then when you read your goals everday, it will put you in the right mind set, you will reach your goal!
4. Reward Yourself
Thats right, reward yourself. Mike Holmgren did this to the packers when they reached the super bowl. The night before the big game, he brought in a big suite case, full of cash. He said, “if you guys win I will share this with all of you.” The packers ended up getting that big suite case full of cash. So reward yourself, this can help with motivation.
For me, if I reach my goal, I will treat myself to a big big meal :-)
I have reached my goals a few times, but that is because I set my goals high. I work hard, I sacrafice a lot, and in the end. It is all worth it, believe me. I just wish that feeling last forever, but tomorrow is a new day, and you have to make the next day better than the last.
So have you reached your goals? What are your goals? You can email if you like and I would love to try and help you reach your goals, I can check up on you, see how your doing.
