Top 7 Accessories for Your Mac Pro

Just after I picked up my Mac Pro, I started looking at which accessories would be most needed for my Mac Pro. After about an hour of looking, there were a few that are still stuck in my mind. These accessories will help my productivity, enhance my experience while using the Mac Pro, and will make my workflow more enjoyable.

I want to share with you, a top 7 list that I put together, that are all about Mac Pro accessories. Now these accessories are not just for the Mac Pro, but I do believe Mac Pro users should consider this if they not yet have one.

1. Canon MP470 Photo All-in-on Printer

Every computer needs a printer right? Well this Canon Printer will be perfect, it does everything. It will make copies, it will scan photos and documents, and of course it will print. This printer is a photo printer, so it is great for printing high quality photos from your desktop.

2. Iomega 500GB UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive

Does not matter what type of computer you are running, every computer needs an external hard drive. External hard drives can be used for various tasks, these range from backing up your computer, to transferring files between computers. This external hard drive is 500GB, so you can back up your computer, and at the same time hold files to transfer between computers, so 500GB should be more than enough.

3. Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speakers v2

The first thing that I noticed when I powered up my Mac Pro, was the sound. I was coming off of high quality sounds from my MacBook, and this was a really different experience. Once I heard the start up noise, I immediately went to go find my old speakers to hook them up. The type of speakers for the Mac Pro should be cheap but also a very good quality, and these Bose Speakers can do just that.

4. Time Capsule

Time machine is that amazing new feature that came with leopard. It allows you to back up your computer automatically in cycles, meaning every hour, or every day, or every month, whatever you feel is best. Time capsule is truly a great accessory because it allows you to back up your files wirelessly, on extremely fast network. Not only is time capsule an external hard drive, it is also an airport base, connecting you to high speed internet.

5. Logitech Orbit Quickcam

The downfall of the Mac Pro is that it does not come with an iSight camera, and because Apple discontinued their iSight cameras, we must now find a new webcam. The Logitech Orbit is a great alternative, it is high quality and has a lot of neat features. Here is a great video on the camera.

6. Multi-Card USB 2.0 Card Reader

I think every computer should have this, because it is such a convenience to have. Instead of hooking your camera up to the computer, all you need to do is pull out the card, and plug it in. Trust me on this, once you try it, you will see how much time you are saving by using this. Check it out here.

7. Jawbone

One feature that the Mac Pro lacks, is a microphone. So instead of buying a big microphone, that will just take up desk space, why not invest in a bluetooth headset. You can use this when you are recording videos, having video chats, or having a call online. Not only can you use it on your Mac, you can use it with your cell phone as well.

Other Thoughts

These are 7 accessories that I feel all Mac Pro users should have. They can increase your workflow as well as productivity, and they can create your Mac experience a hell of a lot less stressful. What accessories do you have with your Mac? Which one is your favorite?

  1. I agree with all of your selections except the time capsule. I used it for a few days and then took it back, it was just too slow on the initial back up.
