The 5 Golden Rules of Being a Mac User
I have been an avid Mac User sense I was about six years old. Over time, I have seen traits that all mac users share. So if you just “switched” from over to PC, I thought it would be nice to give some tips on what you should know while being a mac user. Keep in mind that there are more, and some of these may not be as right as others, but there just what I have experienced over the past eleven years. So, after all that, lets get going.
Rule #1: Mac is ALWAYS better than Windows
Yes, if you were a PC user, before you switched over I am sure you got a lot of comments from us Mac Guys. I do truley believe Mac is a far more advanced peace of software than Windows. We have a much more user interface, plus did you know that the apple Xserve is the worlds 7th fastest super computer. They use over 1,100 for scientific and chemistry study.
Rule #2: Never buy a Zune
Never buy a zune! Never buy a zune! Never buy a zune! I’ve played around with my friends’s zune before and let me tell you this, they are no where near on the level of an iPod. The iPod set the bar so high for other companies that it’s almost virtually impossible for anyone to match the sucess that apple has had with their line of mp3 players. Here’s a quickstat for you: out of all mp3 players owned out there, 70% are ipod, the rest is everythign else I believe that the iPod is way more userfriendly, and way more reliable than a zune or any other mp3 player. Remember who makes the zune? Microsoft, and what do Microsoft products do? They CRASH! So don’t buy one!
Rule #3: Don’t Use Microsoft Software
Yeah, we’ve all heard about Microsoft Office, pretty much every computer has them. But trust me on this, after using Microsoft Office for most of my life, and then switching to Apple iWork, I now know how much more user friendly is with their software. You have no idea! I used Microsoft office my whole life basically and there was still things that were bothering me, and taht I didn’t know how to do with there bugs. Then after switching to iWork, I wasn’t having any problems, everything was very easily set up.
There keynote (which is like powerpoint) was very customizable and very neat looking. Their Numbers (which is like excel) was set up exactly the same as excel, but they had it more nice looking and a little more features and more flexibility with what you can do with it. Then their pages (which is like word) is way more advanced than word. Trust me on this, I am not just picking sides, I found everything more neat, more user friendly, more options, and I didn’t have to push a lot of buttons to get what I wanted.
Rule #4: Know everything about MacWorld
There come’s a time in, every youg mac users life when they experience there very first MacWorld. I remember mine, and boy did I love it. For those that don’t know, MacWorld is when apple talks about the upcoming release of all there new products. I would say almost about every year for a while now they come out with a revolutionary product. The iPod, the iPhone, Macbook Air, and iTunes. Every company in the world ist rying to match the sucess that apple has had with these products. They reinvent some of the products. Apple in my opinion is a revolutionary compnay, they change the way we use technology.
Rule #5: Talk Smack to Windows Users
Now I’m not saying say bad things to them, but make them feel it. Make them wish they had a mac. Whenever their machine crashes, whenever they have to do a virus check up or get a virus, whenever there trying to upgrade their computer but does not have the friendly interface like apple. Just let them feel it, make them jelous, just whip out your apple and say, “ahhh” no virus check, no crashing, very nice user interface and plus a really nice look. Because in my opinion windows, is just Blah! It’s so boring, there isn’t really anything cool about a start bar and all your aplications on the side. My desktop is much more cleaner than it would be on Windows.
Other Thoughts
Well, there you have it. My own golden rules of being a mac user. Now, I’m pretty sure a lot of people do not think like this. But I am actually glad that Windows in more popular than Mac. I love how I’m the only one of my friends that doesn’t crash or get viruses. I love how it’s so much easier for me. I love competition and this is one battle that I always win.
So do you have anything else that I should add? Are there any rules that you disagree with? Maybe sometime soon I will do one of those windows vs Apple like everyone else does, but who knows.

Awesome post man!
I sadly went from Mac to PC…very rare I know! I first started using PC when I was 7 - 8, made the move to mac when I was 11 by buying an iMac G5 and now I am 17 and just purchased a custom built PC with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit!
I would have loved to go for the MacPro but far to expensive, for the specs I wanted the PC was the cheaper option by far…but I still use my mac for media; videos, pictures and music. But my primary machine is my PC :)
