Maybe you want one folder in list and the rest in icon. This tip will show you exactly how you can do that.
First, choose the folder that you wish to set. Then set that folder in icon view, list view, column view or cover flow. Once you do that hit Command + J. Then lets say you have it in list view, in on the box, you want to check the checkbox at the very top. That will say always show in list view.
You do this for all the folders that you want to have customized.
